Hi! My name is Stacy Holcombe Henderson.
I have worked in public education for 18 years. I taught High School English and served as the Head of the English Department at Crescent High School in Anderson School District 3 for nine years. Since 2004, I have been employed as a Library Information Media Specialist. I was employed at Dr. Hill Middle School in Spartanburg School District Five for 8 years and currently work in the Greenville County School District as one of two Media Specialists at Mauldin High School.
I became a Nationally Board Certified educator in Adolescence and Young Adult/English Language Arts in 2002 and successfully renewed my NBPTS certification in 2010.
As a Media Specialist in education, the integration of technology is an integral part of my current profession. I utilize technology every day - whether it be implementing data analysis by running reports using our Destiny circulation software in order to analyze and evaluate our collection of resources (audio, equipment, print, and digital eBooks) or in the areas of teaching and training both teachers and students on how to use educational technology tools - such as Animoto, Glogster, Blendspaces, Voicethread, etc.
I am very passionate about the integration of technology in education and believe in being proactive in helping others utilize the plethora of ed tech tools we have available! I’ve presented to both elementary and secondary teachers technology applications, such as Glogster, at Web 2.0 educational workshops. My session proposal on educational technology tools to use in order to enhance student research was recently accepted and will be included at the Upstate Educational Technology conference this summer. I am a member of ISTE and have attended our Ed Tech conferences the past four years.
Spartanburg School District Five’s Instructional Technologist Lori Vinson and Greenville County School District's Instructional Technology Facilitator Michelle King are listed as a references on my resume and can verify my knowledge and enthusiasm in utilizing technology applications in in order to enhance teacher instruction and student learning.
It is my belief that technology can be utilized successfully in any content area and with every student, regardless of his/her ability level, with positive results!
